I am 17 weeks pregnant as of today, almost half way there!! Being off of bed rest is great, although the 6 weeks in bed have left me easily exhausted and kind of disoriented in my own house. I can’t find certain things; I have no idea what’s in the fridge, freezer or pantry; the laundry seems completely foreign and I have no idea where my kids clothes are. It’s crazy! My first outing was just up the street to my sister-in law’s house to help her finish up her baby announcements, which was fun. Then, yesterday afternoon, I picked the kids up from school and took them to the dollar store to get a few little things, just to do something with them after so long. We got pool toys and as soon as the nights quit cooling off, we’ll get to go swimming, which I’m really looking forward to!

I went back to the dr.’s office today and was pleasantly shocked when she told me I could come off of the bed rest. I couldn’t believe it. She told me I must still take it very easy, but I can pick up the kids from school, leave the house and cook a quick meal. I’m jut so relieved to be able to do things again. Of course, if I have any sort of spotting or signs of trouble, I’ll have to go right back to bed, but as long as I take it easy, everything should be fine. Thanks to any and all who sent prayers and get well wishes my way!

I am in my 5th week of bed rest and I have come to the conclusion that daytime television programming totally sucks. I have reached the point that I don’t even turn the t.v. on at all during the day.
For a few weeks, I watched baby shows and makeover shows on TLC, but after a while those get very old. It’s been ages since I watched any Soap Operas, so last week, I caved and sat through an episode of General Hospital. How awful. I grew up on Soaps. My mom recorded them everyday. And after years of not seeing a one, I was able to sit trough this hour of drivel and catch on to what was happening. It’s the same drama, same stories, chewed up and regurgitated right back up for our viewing pleasure. It’s funny, really. After that, I just decided to read and spend more time on the internet.
I do watch Prime Time t.v. We watched a new episode of Bones this week. A new episode of House comes on this coming week. And I’m really ready for the return of Heroes and 24.

My brother and his wife welcomed their new baby this week. It’s a BOY! He weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and was 18″ long. I am so excited for them. The baby is beautiful and I can’t wait to hold him. Since I’m still on bed rest, I wasn’t able to make it to the hospital to see them. They will be coming home tomorrow if everything is fine.
Update on my pregnancy:
The baby is still doing fine and growing right on schedule. The tear in the placenta is smaller, but not completely gone yet. I am looking at 3-6 more weeks of bed rest. We weren’t able to see the baby’s gender during the ultrasound, so I’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out if we’re going to need pink or blue.

The dr. has said I can have an ultrasound this Monday when I go in for my next check-up. So I will know how the tear in the placenta is doing 2 weeks ahead of time. Yay! I am thrilled. I may even be able to see whether it is a boy or a girl, but I’ll just have to see if the baby cooperates. Either way, I’ll know if things are continuing to get better.
Also this week, I will become an Aunt!! My little brother, Noah, and his wife will head to the hospital Tuesday night for a scheduled induction. We still don’t know if it is a boy or a girl! I am so excited for them.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted here because I have been on bed rest. On Easter Sunday, after a trip to the emergency room, we discovered that there was a tear in the placenta. It was small at 1.7 cm, but it could get worse without lots of rest and very little activity. So I had a long week of bed rest. This past Monday, I went to my dr.’s office and she measured the tear again. It had gone down to just .9 cm. but I was to continue the bed rest until my next appointment in 2 weeks. I can’t drive, which means I can’t pick my kids up from school (my mom & mother-in-law have been helping me out there). My hubby has been taking care of everything… me, the kids, the house and his job.
Thankfully, throughout all of this, the baby is doing well. The dr. moved my due date up to the 8th of October, the day before Leah’s birthday. In a little less than 4 weeks, we will have another ultrasound and we should be able to find out the baby’s gender. Before all the drama, I was really hoping for a boy. Now I just want it to be healthy (but a boy would still be great)!
