I have been extremely tired lately. I am on Prometrium, a medicine that boosts my Progesterone levels. It’s side effects are fatigue and dizziness. As if the first trimester of pregnancy isn’t exhaustive enough, now I get overwhelming drug-enduced waves of exhaustion. I’ve gotten a bit used to it, but some days it still takes its toll on me.

This month is just flying by. I can’t believe we are already near the end of February… and I’ve posted so little this month! I’m such a slacker!

On Valentine’s Day I found out that I am pregnant again. The dr. did an ultrasound on Monday afternoon and I got to see the little heart beating. I was so relieved, but I am still a little nervous that something might go wrong again. She told me that my due date is October 11th, just 2 days after Leah’s 8th birthday. I am fairly sure that the baby will be born before then though.
I am just hoping that this one sticks and I have a healthy, normal pregnancy. I’m sure that my regular readers will be hearing a lot more on this subject in the months to come! ![]()

The hubby and I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day one night early so we wouldn’t have to ask anyone else to watch the kids on the actual day. Other people want to do stuff on Valentine’s Day… imagine that!! We went to eat at Longhorn Steak House and it was delicious. We were both so full when we left. We thought about going to see a movie, but there was nothing playing that we really wanted to see bad enough to pay theater prices. We ended up spending some time in Barnes & Noble’s, one of our favorite places to shop or just kill time. After that, we picked the kids up from my mom & dad’s house. They have school in the morning, so we didn’t want to have too late a night.
By the way, sorry for the lack of posts so far in February. We had a death in the family this past week. David’s grandfather died this past Thursday during heart surgery. Since then has been a blur of family get-togethers and the wake and funeral.

It has been years since I’ve been to any New Orleans Mardi Gras parades and I decided that this year I’d go ahead and take my kids so that they could see what it’s like. My uncle had a grand stand just past Lee Circle along the Zulu parade route. It was a wonderful spot. We were eye level with the float riders and we caught a BUNCH of stuff. The kids, especially Anna and Jacob, had so much fun. Leah was ready to leave about 3/4 of the way through the parade. She had had enough by that point. My only complaint was that the parade took forever to pass. We were supposed to catch Rex right after Zulu, but Zulu took hours, so we decided to leave after that instead.
I was so exhausted when we got home (and so were the kids), but I’m glad my kiddos got to see Mardi Gras. Anna told me, “Mama, this is the best parade of my life!” That definitely made it so worth it!
