Space Chimps was a really adorable kids movie. I definitely recommend it. It’s got some great humor for the parents and the characters are really lovable, especially the main chimp. Cool, colorful scenes, a surprisingly good storyline for a kid’s flick and some really funny parts. I loved it and I’ll be buying the dvd when it comes out!

Last night, my dad and I went and saw Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the movie theater. I LOVED it. Really macabre in that awesome Tim Burton way, but darker than some of his other stuff, which made it even better. But it still had that quirky humor too. Both Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter gave superb performances. Alan Rickman is also in the movie and he plays a real lowlife, but he does it wonderfully. Love him.
It’s a musical/horror, which is, surprisingly, a great combo. Many of the scenes (especially the bloody ones) seemed very theatrical, almost like I was watching a stage performance. In my opinion, it’s a must-see, just because Johnny Depp sings. But the story is really an amazing one. I’ll definitely be getting this on DVD when it comes out.

I finally got around to watching Superbad, the new movie everyone has been raving about. I’d heard that its the funniest movie since American Pie and, I have to admit, it had me laughing. I am a huge fan of the American Pie movies and I still think they’re better than Superbad, but Superbad was hilarious. Plus, it really is super bad. It has to be one of the raunchiest comedies I’ve seen in a while. The language is super bad. The humor is super bad. And, there are some super bad drawings featured in this movie that will have you peeing your pants. I felt naughty just laughing at the stuff these guys said in this movie. More than once, I found myself thinking, “Oh my God, did they really just say that!?” The coolest thing about Superbad is that just below the raunchy, naughty, trashy-mouthed surface is a really heartwarming story about 2 childhood friends growing up and facing college apart from each other. And besides, anytime you mix dorks who think they’re cool, crazy cops, fake i.d.s, horny teenagers and alcohol, you’re bound to get a few laughs!

Early this morning, I decided to get the movie, Georgia Rule, on PayPerView. I had been wanting to see this one since it was released in theaters, but there was no way my husband would actually pay money to see a “chick flick.” I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this movie. It is borderline chick flickish, but not nearly to the extent of what I thought it would be. I definitely deals with the relationships between the women in the family, but it’s a lot more complex than that.
Lindsay Lohan is amazing in this movie. She does such a great job with her character, Rachel. Poor Rachel is struggling with tons of issues and the character is so multi-faceted. You hate her, love her, wanna slap her and then hug her. I was surprised at how beautifully she played this role. It’s a shame her personal life is so dramatic, because the girls got talent.
Jane Fonda was wonderful too. This was actually my favorite movie that she has starred in (and I really liked Monster-In-Law). She is so endearing in this film. Her character is firm, yet loving; funny, yet serious. Not to mention, she looks great in this movie!!
The story is so moving. I won’t give too much away, but any mom or daughter can appreciate the themes portrayed in this movie.
Garrett Hedlund has a supporting role, but the scenes he’s in really stand out. I want to see more from this actor… and soon!
Thankfully, I Tivo’ed the movie as I watched it, so I can have the pleasure of watching it again!

I’m sitting here watching “Legends of the Fall” for the first time in quite a long time and I am struck by how absolutely beautiful Brad Pitt is in this movie. His face is so perfectly formed that it almost hurts. And that smile… Wow! I forgot how amazing he looks in this movie. Plus, the movie itself is awesome; totally depressing, but very good.
Anthony Hopkins is amazing in this movie too. Aside from his portrayal of good ol’ Hannibal, I think this my favorite character that he has portrayed. In the scene where his sons are leaving for the war and he’s watching them ride out, there is something very attractive about him, and I’ve never thought that before. I’m no movie critic (well, I guess I am… who isn’t?), but every aspect of this movie from the scenery to the score to the performances, and of course, the actual storyline, is all so enthralling. I love the dynamic between the brothers and their relationship to their father and you’ve got to love the very complicated love triangle (or is it a love quadrangle).
Anyway, if you’ve never seen it, sit down and watch it! And if you haven’t seen it in a while, it’s worth watching again…and again… and again.
